What to Expect During a Treatment: Treatments in Japanese style acupuncture last about one hour. I treat both the front of the body and the back in one session. I focus on the whole body because Japanese meridian style acupuncture treats the underlying constitutional problems associated with surface tension. While each individual session may last long, it will have longer lasting affects. Acupuncture involves the shallow insertions of very fine, hair thin, stainless steel needles into specific points for specific ailments, but is rarely uncomfortable. In fact, many patients report feeling a deep peaceful relaxation during and after their treatments. This is because the "Qi" that was blocking areas of the body, is now flowing back to it's normal state. There are also many techniques that don't involve the use of needles at all such as moxibustion, electric stimulation, shiatsu acupressure and more. Please bring a pair of shorts and a tank top to wear during treatment and please refrain from drinking alcohol or taking recreational drugs before and after treatments to obtain the optimal affect of your healing process.
